China Hand
My job is to help students see the bigger picture of ministry. Ministry is more than just "lovin’ on" people. It involves coming alongside those in your sphere of influence and helping them take the next step on their spiritual journey. This requires an incredibly complex set of skills and a high degree of commitment.

They're inseparable. China and Dr. Fetters, that is. Over his 20-year relationship with the country, he's truly become a "China Hand," a non-Chinese person who learns the language, understands the culture and makes a lifelong contribution. Dr. Fetters has not only taught in China but also planted churches and raised a family there. His master's and doctoral studies each had a Chinese emphasis. And over the last few years, Dr. Fetters' mission interests have taken him to China several times as well as Peru, Bolivia, Honduras, Ireland and West Africa.

Why Huntington?

I enjoy teaching at Huntington because of the spiritual vitality of the students. I often say, "I’m getting paid to do exactly what I’d want to do if I didn’t need a salary."

Interesting tidbit

I grew up on the Huntington campus from age 10 because my father was dean of the graduate school. This is the 14th consecutive year I’ve run in the Indianapolis 500 Festival Mini Marathon.
