Experiential Learning
Have you ever looked at the job ads in the local newspaper and wondered ‘how can I gain the required experience’ after just graduating college? This is a great question and at Huntington, we have the answer for you. Whether it’s the Best Semester program, the PRIME or an internship arranged with the help of the Enterprise Resource Center—HU has you covered when it comes to Experiential Learning!
The Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) offers an outstanding program called Best Semester. This is a time for every student to choose one semester to leave the HU campus and study a field that best suites their interests. With 12 different programs, some stateside and the rest spread throughout different continents, the Best Semester will help you land the experience you need that you can only get through a CCCU member institution. Check out these programs out www.bestsemester.com.
All HU Ministry & Missions majors (Educational Ministry, Missions, Worship Leadership and Youth Ministry) are required to spend seven months in the uniquely designed-intensive field study called the Practical Research and Immersion through Ministry Effectiveness or PRIME. The PRIME Experience occurs between the students' junior and senior year in which they are immersed into field ministry settings from May to December. Students have spanned the globe for their PRIME locations. The PRIME Experience sets HU’s graduates apart from other similar institutions’ students.
HU’s Enterprise Resource Center (ERC for short) identifies, implements and evaluates experiential learning opportunities in the area community. The ERC acts as a “connector” between the university and area businesses, not-for-profit organizations, social service agencies, churches and local governments to provide meaningful “real-world” experiences for Huntington University students with a wide range of majors and interests while helping these community entities to grow and prosper.
