Faith Journey
Most students today are searching for something. Each one desires a sense of connection, growth, authenticity and mission in life. At Huntington, we believe Jesus Christ brings that to the table. He touches our hearts, opens our minds and ultimately changes our lives – and our passion is to equip you to share Him and His story with friends, neighbors and ultimately the world. To us, spiritual formation is about more than a religion; it is a faith journey we travel together. Since the narrative story of the Christian faith is so essential to the spiritual journey of our students, we provide a wealth of experiences that bring “The Story” alive. Our chapel, Ekklesia, and Bible study/convocation opportunities are designed to challenge the entire Huntington community in their faith journey throughout the week. Students are required to attend 30 chapels per semester including community chapels, Ekklesia, Bible study/convocation and electives. Students personally interact with Campus Ministry Coordinators who seek to embody the love of Christ on the dorm floor. To encounter more international experiences, students interact with Global Vision and participate in mission trips sponsored by our Campus Ministries office.
Campus Ministry Coordinators
Community on the college campus is basically a set of personal, dependable and durable relationships that are based on your own values. At Huntington, community is also a place where you will find yourself sustained spiritually and emotionally. The heart of the Campus Ministry Coordinator (CMC) program is not really a program ministry at all, but a relational peer ministry. The goal is to create a supportive environment in the dorm where you can begin to share your joys, fears and vulnerabilities. In essence, the CMC creates a safe environment for you to share your story and develop lasting relationships with others. Each dorm floor moves at its own pace, reflecting people’s spiritual journeys as individuals and as a floor unit.
Community chapels
Each community chapel service is unique, having a specific theme or focus. The Dean of Christian Faith and Life invites a variety of men and women from a multitude of backgrounds and ministries to challenge us in our faith journey.
Ekklesia
Unlike our Tuesday and Thursday chapels, our Wednesday night Ekklesia chapel is student led. With an eclectic mix of speakers, worship experiences and community building opportunities, this chapel allows you to have a voice in the core aspect of your faith journey at Huntington.
Bible study/convocation
Our third opportunity for community spiritual formation comes through our Bible study/convocation opportunity. Every year an in-depth look at a particular book of the Bible is offered. This study is not an academic class, but an opportunity to challenge you to apply scripture and live it daily.
